Dear Future Me: You should be off in California right now with your cousin Ayanna. By now you should have found an amazing job. Hopefully you have done what you came to California to do and that is to become a successful actor. You have the talent I just hope that you have used it and not gotten distracted or lazy which are two things you do often. Most of all, I hope that you are happy. Having lots of money is nice and all but make sure you get it doing something you love. I hope that you still are not living with Ayanna. By now you should have at least one kid. You planned on having 5 kids and starting at the age of 25. I really hope that you have enjoyed everything you have experienced so far in life. Just know that you aren’t old yet. You still have a few years left to go before you are considered old. I really hope that you have followed your dreams and set out what you were meant to do in life. Do not give in. It’s never too late.
I think that the rule that is violated the most is having an excuse to miss work. I think that the car excuse would be the most common. As an employer I would not fire the employee the first few times that it happened but if it became a constant issue then I would have no other choice but to fire them. They would become more trouble than good. I see students use that excuse all the time for being late to first period. I even know a teacher who uses that as an excuse frequently.
The most difficult interview question for me to answer would be what piece of candy or kind of candy would you be and why. I felt this was hard to answer because the question was really unexpected and since it is not a normal everyday question I would not know what the employer would want to hear as an answer.
The title of the article is “What to Wear (And What NOT to Wear) To an Interview.” The author is David Schepp. The article is about your appearance during an interview. According to the article, appearance is an important part in the interviewing process. They are very precise on what is formal and interview appropriate and what is not. Formal colors include gray, dark gray, navy, and black. Ties are the exception to the rule however, you cannot have any characters on the tie. I do not feel that it is right to judge someone based on their appearance. People know how to manipulate you to think that they are a good person have a good work ethic based on the way they look. Someone with no tattoos and dressed formally could have a horrible work ethic and can cause problems down the road. People that have a bit of edge who is obviously a good person and has a good work ethic should not be automatically pushed aside. However, I do understand where employers are coming from because in most cases, people who dress formally who look more professional are usually better suited for the workplace than those who have edge and attitude. My cousin is an extremely well-rounded individual. Her appearance is her flaw because she has visible tattoos but she works hard and is a very nice and caring person. A job realized that and they hired her regardless of her appearance. I will use this information to benefit me in the future by making sure that I do what it says to prepare for an interview. I will not ever get a tattoo and I will make sure to follow their guide on how to dress professionally. The change that I would make is to always keep my hair cut instead of letting it grow out to keep a professional clean look. This article applies to the chapter because the article describes how to dress for an interview. It ties to the workplace because you would not have a job without the interview first in most cases and appearance is very important to the employer because it is the first impression that you make on them.
Formal: Done in accordance with rules of convention or etiquette; suitable for or constituting an official or important situation or occasion.
Expression: The process of making known one's thoughts or feelings.
I do not believe that it is fair to only sell clothes for “cool kids” because everyone should be able to wear whatever clothes they want. Hiring people based on their appearance is not fair either because the best candidate for the job may not always be the best looking one.
I really do not feel that pajamas say anything about the student in high school. I have seen people who dress up every single day and look professional but still have suffering grades. I have seen people who come to school in pajamas everyday and have amazing grades. I do not think that dressing in pajamas has to do with the student but having that edgy look usually means that the student is lacking in the academic department.
I found that finding a job was less difficult than finding a career. The jobs that I was interested in were all there however; getting the job would be a different story. You have to be a lot more selective when finding a career than when finding a job. It took me twice the time to find a career than to find a job. I feel that locating a career is more difficult than finding a job because you have to do the career for the rest of your life. Depending on your standards, finding a career could be one of the most difficult things to find. It can also be one of the most depressing because if you do not get what you are striving to do then you may be stuck doing a career that you were not interested and having to spend your life being unhappy every time you go into work.
The job of becoming an intern on a movie or television set relates to being a software developer because I would learn how the technology works that people use to create the movies and be able to work with the people who created the idea and brought it to life which is what a software developer does.
