If I could choose my job in high school, I would choose working as an intern on a movie or television show set. I would be good at this job because it is something that I would like to do as my career. I would be learning critical skills and be having hands-on experience with an advantage over many other people because I have experience on and off the stage. When I want something I give it my all.
The author of the article is the Family Education Staff. The title is “Is Your Teen Ready for a Job?” This article was about the pros and cons of a teen getting a part-time job and what a responsible parent should do if they were to get a job. A few interesting facts include that teens that work no more than ten to fifteen hours a week actually receive higher grades than teens without a job at all. Teens with a job that work any longer than that typically get lower grades. They also are associated with drugs and alcohol because of the connections that they have with their older co-workers.
I feel that teens should not get a job unless there is some outstanding circumstance that makes them have no other option. This is because a job really takes up a lot time that a teen could be using for studying and keeping up their social calendars. Colleges really love to see extra-curricular activities and those typically happen directly after school along with sports. The solution of making your hours later will also cause problems when you have homework or projects that have to be completed. I know someone that works a job that makes him do long hours almost every day because he is eighteen. However, he is a senior in high school and his work is suffering along with his sleep because the job is taking up so much of his time. He had previously been arrested for illegal activities before he turned eighteen. This was most likely due to the relations that he had with his older co-workers. This information will benefit me by supporting my idea of getting a job after high school. The job that I would be interested in after high school would be having a paid internship on a movie set. I would like this job because it could lead to many great things like being discovered. Or it would introduce me to what my career will be like in the future. This would also open many doors for me. I would like to have my hours any time from 12-10. I would not even mind getting paid minimum wage. This article applies to the workplace because it describes what it is like for a teen to have a job. Responsibility: the social force that binds you to your obligations and the courses of action demanded by that force Job: the principal activity in your life that you do to earn money I would not want to have the memory of an elephant because it remembered the time when it was unable to pull the stake out of the ground as a child and then when it grew up, it thought it was still impossible so he did not even try. The elephant was fully capable when it became it an adult but because of the memories it had, it could not even bring itself to try. A moment that I had like this was when I watched the Titanic when I was younger and then a class trip came up where we could go on a ride on a boat and I almost did not go because of the memories that I had about it. I ended up going because I do not like to let fear stand in the way of something that I want.
The last time I did a good deed for someone was yesterday in band. Our band director gave us a worksheet on scales and many of the class did not know how to complete it. I volunteered my work time to go help out everyone around the room without being asked. I did this because I know the scales by heart and it would take me approximately five minutes to complete but I knew it would take others longer so I helped them out first.
The title of the article is “The Farmer’s Donkey”. It is about a donkey that got trapped inside of a well and a farmer felt it was hopeless and impossible to get it out. He decided to gather others and bury the donkey alive. The donkey initially gave up hope but he changed his mind and stepped up with every pile of dirt that everyone threw at him. This relates to the current chapter activities because it shows that you should not doubt yourself even when the situation seems impossible.
I agree that you should never give up even when the situation seems impossible. I was in a situation where it seemed impossible to accomplish what I wanted to do. Last year was my first year of choir. I was in Lake Shore Singers which is the choir that people get dumped into that did not make Shorian Singers or Glee Club. I auditioned for Shorian Singers which is our school's most elite choir class and I royally messed up the dance that we had to do. I felt like giving up when I was learning it but instead I stayed and gave it my all and now I am in Shorian Singers. This information will benefit me in the future by showing me that no matter what life throws at me to always shake it off and try again. I will keep my open-minded attitude and I will also keep my work ethic of giving my all to everything that I do. This article applies to the workplace because there is always going to be someone who wants to bring me down. This happens with anything. I learned to shrug it off and keep forging ahead no matter what.
